How do you manage stress?

Time with my kitty. regular massages. Watching fantasy/scifi, especially more hopeful or happy stuff, because going to another world for a while helps for me. Listening to music. Sleep.

That's the fun part, I don't.

Outside of memeing I really don't deal with stress well, it gives me anxiety induced insomnia which can last months and makes my already quick emotions worse. The only things I've found that help are chamomile tea and rain or cat purring videos(or shoving my face into my cat's belly but she's not always amenable, lol).

Do you enjoy the taste of whiskey? I've tried it (various types and mixes) and it was rough.

It has to be good, one of those cases where yes the price matters. Japanese whiskey, proper Irish, there is a definite flavor and it can vary by brand. Cheaper than that, nah, it's rot-gut and no different from crap rum or brandy. Reasons Japan has brought back the highball, a leetle bitty whiskey in a giant tank of soda, it's to sell cheap whiskey.

I have alexithymia, so for most of my life I thought I was unstressed and very easy going. Then I had to get a heart rate monitor for something else, and discovered that actually I'm stressed all the time. So I've been figuring it out for the last few years. Exercise helps. Also, videos of apartment tours, the smaller the better. I especially like Japanse micro apartments because they're very minimalist and usually don't have a whole lot of color.

Honestly, it used to be shitty fast food, but I kicked that and now just clean obsessively. Wouldn't reccomend either. :(

By disconnecting from the news (I don't read it on weekends). I make sure to exercise. And distraction like books/games/youtube.

I limit my internet/tv/news time. I used to be more clued in but now I check things out once a day or once every other day. I make an effort to get some time outside. Getting myself out there is a whole mental battle, but taking a walk in the neighborhood is such a good daily de-stressor for me. I am working on doing it more often.

Getting back into birding and gardening. Just being outside in generally really helps me kind of resent and calm.

Reading, talking with my bff and my Monstrous Bebe, watching low-key, familiar movies or tv shows (sometimes I'll just skip around, hitting my favorite bits or episodes), bitching with my co-worker about the utter fuckwittery going on at our work.

When I can, I read, watch TV, or space out into a daydream.

Self soothe by listening to good music or stimming in a way that's comforting.

I'm being mostly flippant. It's true for the most part, but I AM trying breathing techniques, meditation, I've been trying to internalize some ideas and practices around wuwei, and I've been reading a lot of Alan Watts which all /sounds/ really good but isn't coming too naturally to me.

Honestly nothing is as effective as a good old depression nap. But I'm trying.

Been trying to remember breathing exercises when the tension caused by stress starts building up in my head. Also, when I get the time to do it, I try to write down a fanfic to focus my mind on something else - mostly as a way to vent rather than create something to post later (unless its one of the few times I actually like what I've written lol).

Weed, gardening, video games, cuddling with my partner and pets.

(also quitting jobs and having nervous breakdowns lol but you win some, you lose some)

Staying away from things that can easily induce anger, rage, or fear (ie. I don't go looking for news stuff so I don't use almost all forms of social media).

I have screenshots saved in a folder that have positive words of encouragements with gentle reminders and affirmations ("You are worthy just as you are" "ruminating solves nothing, you can stop thinking about that" "You aren't meant to solve all the problems you come across" etc.).
A younger me would have found this lame or pointless, but this tactic has helped me a lot in recent years.
I also have photo galleries of people and places that give me joy/remind me of the good things that exist in my life.

Marijuana consumption (used to smoke daily, cut way back on the smoking since I got sick at the start of the year; currently trying to lower my consumption of the edibles)

Constant work on inner monologuing; my mind is/was my greatest critic and understanding where that stemmed from and that I can work on it has helped my mental health a lot

Finding ways to be out in nature, even for a walk or just sitting outside

Taking my time enjoying media instead of treating it like some sort of marathon sport
