It's a misc personal update talking about working on the weekend...

NAYRT but her work IS political in nature right now. “I had to go to work” is not political. “I had to go to work because of issues stemming to this political hot button issue” is political.

It is directly affecting them and their life, so it is inevitable. At the rate things are going, politics will be inevitable to talk about, if they aren't already for the yanks.

I am not familiar with the nature of this person's work, and thus have no context for whatever political elements are being complained about. It reads just like a generic pissed-they-had-to-work rant to me.

If a post needs existing context in order to recognize the political elements at play, it's not really a political post.

I'm a childless disabled woman married to another woman, and we have two cats. According to people who think the way you do, talking about anything in my life is political. This is like a scene out of The Office. I am looking directly into the camera.

Reading the actual text of the comment, I don't see where it's political or where it says “I had to go to work because of issues stemming to this political hot button issue”?

It appears to me to be complaining about a judge canceling something after-hours. That isn't any more political than a manager changing your schedule and expecting you to adjust, other than that it's a judge involved?

OP was one of the ones who pushed for politics specific thread for hot button issues.

Random non-sequitur?

It’s great for you that immigration isn’t a political concern. But for any decent American it is. If you really don’t have any kind of feeling about human beings getting locked up for no reason then I’d guess you fall in with the crowd that made it a political issue.

The comment you are upset about never mentions immigration.

Even if the average FSer doesn’t know she’s an immigration lawyer, and I highly doubt that, she mentions detainment right in the comment. Who gets detained? Immigrants. Everyone else gets arrested or jailed or imprisoned.

Oh wow, you don't know anything about how things work if you think nobody but immigrants get detained. People get detained for other things all the time.

Haven't you seen all those wacky sovereign citizen videos where they screech "am I being detained?!?!!" Being detained is a thing that happens. LOL

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2025-05-03 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously? So detained is commonly used by American lawyers to describe everybody because of some nut jobs on YouTube? It doesn’t work that way. Context is key. And again, philstar has disclosed her career literally countless times in FS going back to when she was still in school. Anyone who’s been in FS even casually in the last year would see her comment and know EXACTLY what she’s talking about. That you don’t isn’t the flex you think it is.

Moving goalposts. You claimed the only people that get detailed are immigrants, and this is not true. Other people get detained for reasons. The example was to show that even wacky nutjobs recognize this to be true.

But... you're silly and in bad faith and not worth the time tbh.

AYRT

...again, where in the comment does it mention immigration or that the judge's actions were about immigration or motivated any particular political stance? It's literally only about a judge changing a schedule.

I agree with you that it's political.
