Yeah, I agree. "AI" IRL is not in any way intelligent. People may feel it is, but people bond just as strongly with toys and household appliances and cars and robot pets. And fictional characters! People are good at that! I don't think "AI" is going to make people not write fictional AI any more than watching Cars makes you not want to drive a car.
