Do people say S2 is terrible now? When it came out, I seemed to be the only one who thought that. Everyone else was gushing about the new (rushed, underdeveloped) ships and the (rushed, underdeveloped) storyline.

I actually liked season 2 better than season 1, yes the ending was too abrupt but otherwise found it very enjoyable. I felt like season 1 took several episodes to find its feet.

Nah, it was genuinely shit compared to the first one.

Ehhh, obviously YMMV, but the pacing was all over the place, the writing baffling, the "meaningful" moments felt undeserved and we went from a show about the crew of the Revenge with a focus on Stede and Ed later on to the Stede and Ed show with the crew as extras. The criticisms were louder after the season finale (good, fuck the season finale), but I do remember seeing them while the show was airing.

I watched S2 and then went online (I like to avoid spoilers) and was also shocked at how fans talked about it. They made it seem like it was trash and went downhill from S1 and that the ending was an insult or something. I quite liked S2 and the ending!

absolutely the case where fandom diverged so dramatically. folks less brainrotted called several aspects of the diverged fandom "the canyon" because of how far off they got and how pissy they got that their wildly different interpretations did not become canon

s2 was fine. i laughed, i felt emotions. I don't think I can ask for much more in a TV show tbh??
